    Community Service for Developmentally Disabled
    The mission of CSDD is to promote and support ongoing choices and opportunities for children and adults and their families to be full and equal citizens in the community.

CMHA-CEI’s Autism Support Team was established in 2009 to meet the growing need of children and adults with autism spectrum disorders in the tri-county area. The mission of this project is “To provide a supportive environment for children and adults with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and their families by helping to facilitate a range of services to meet ongoing needs throughout the life span.”

The team consists of the following individuals who have training in various evidence-based practices:

  • Pat Miller, MA, CCC-SLP – Supervisor of Clinical Services, Chairperson
  • Richard Coelho, PhD – Program Evaluation Specialist
  • Lehua Beamon, MA, CCC-SLP – Senior Speech Pathologist
  • Cindy Grider, BS, OTR – Senior Occupational Therapist
  • Barb Groom – MA, LLP – Psychologist
  • Nichole LaRiviere-Martinson, MS, RD – Nutritionist
  • Kathy Vogel – LMSW, Family Support Service Case Manager
  • Terri Beard, MA, LPC – Vocational Counselor
  • Michelle Sheren, - Senior Developmental Disabilities Clinician (inclusion activities)
  • Lisa Arens, LMSW – Family Support Coordinator

The above staff have worked with children and/or adults with autism spectrum disorders (as well as children and adults with developmental disabilities) and have received extensive training in various evidence-based practices. The following evidence-based practices are currently in use by members of the Autism Support Team:

Some of the evidence-based practices utilized include: visual supports, video modeling, social narratives, joint attention, picture exchange communication system, speech generating devices, Antecedent-Based Interventions, Functional Behavior Assessment, Naturalistic Intervention, Self Management.


Cost for Services

CMHA-CEI provides specialty behavioral health and substance use services for people who meet criteria for our service array. We accept Medicaid, Healthy Michigan Plan and other publically funded health insurance. Fees are assessed based on the client's ability to pay. A coverage determination will identify a person's ability to pay along with any public funding that might be available.

CMHA-CEI does not offer stand-alone psychiatry services.
