Mental Health Crisis

The Community Mental Health Authority of Clinton, Eaton, Ingham Counties (CMHA-CEI) is accredited by the international accrediting body - Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). CARF is an independent, nonprofit accrediting body whose mission is to promote the quality, value, and optimal outcomes of services through a consultative accreditation process that centers on enhancing the lives of the persons served. Founded in 1966 as the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, and now known as CARF International, the accrediting body establishes consumer-focused standards to help organizations measure and improve the quality of their programs and services.

CMHA-CEI has been accredited for a period of three years, through June 2023, for the following programs:

  • ACT - Assertive Community Treatment: Mental Health (Adults)
  • Adult Mental Health Services (AMHS) - Case Management/Services Coordination: Mental Health (Adults)
  • Community Services for the Developmentally Disabled (CSDD) Case Management/Services Coordination: Psychosocial Rehabilitation (Adults)
  • The Recovery Center - Detoxification: Alcohol and other Drugs/Addictions (Adults)
  • Parent-Infant and Parent-Young Child Programs - Intensive Family-Based Services: Family Services (Children and Adolescents)
  • Family Guidance and Home Based Services - Intensive Family-Based Services: Mental Health (Children and Adolescents)
  • Clinton County Counseling Center - Outpatient Treatment: Alcohol and Other Drugs/Addictions (Adults)
  • Correctional Assessment and Treatment Services (CATS) - Outpatient Treatment: Alcohol and Other Drugs/Addictions (Criminal Justice)
  • House of Commons - Residential Treatment: Alcohol and Other Drugs/Addictions (Criminal Justice)

This latest accreditation is the 6th consecutive Three-Year Accreditation that CARF has awarded to CMHA-CEI. By pursuing and achieving accreditation, CMHA-CEI has demonstrated that it meets international standards for quality and is committed to pursuing excellence.

This accreditation decision represents the highest level of accreditation that can be awarded to an organization and shows our organization’s substantial conformance to the CARF standards. An organization receiving a Three-Year Accreditation has put itself though a rigorous peer review process. It has demonstrated to a team of surveyors during an on-site visit its commitment to offering programs and services that are measurable, accountable, and of the highest quality. CMHA-CEI is an organization that has been providing services in the tri-county area since 1964.
